Tanjung Lesung Special Tourism and Economic Zone has been designated as one of the 10 Priority Tourist Destinations, and this year, Tanjung Lesung will once again host Rhino Cross Triathlon (or Rhino X-Tri), the first open cross triathlon in Indonesia. The competition comprises swimming, off-road bicycle race and running, across the natural challenges that the beautiful Tanjung Lesung has to offer.
Pesona Tanjung Lesung Festival, which is to be held on September 29 and 30, 2018, will have Rhino X-Tri as the main event, along with other sport tourism events, namely Rhino MTB XCM (Rhino Mountain Bike Cross Country Marathon). Around 200 athletes from seven countries have voiced their interest to participate, including national athletes, Muhammad Taufik, Ady Akhmad Jukardi and Eva Desiana, who will compete to win the total of Rp250 million.

Rhino X-Tri as part of the Pesona Tanjung Lesung Festival is the fruit of the strong synergy of the pentahelix elements in Banten: Banten provincial government; Pandeglang district government; and, Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone authority, PT Banten West Java. The event is also fully supported and has been entered into program events of the Tourism Affairs Ministry. Purnomo added that the Tourism Affairs Minister, Arief Yahya is scheduled to officially open Pesona Tanjung Lesung Festival on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Cikadu Stadium, Tanjung Lesung.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of PT Banten West Java (the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic and Tourism Zone authority) & Chief of Organizing Committee, Rully Lasahido explained that this year’s Rhino X-Tri and Rhino MTB XCM is more special than the last one with the participation of 200 participants from seven countries (the US, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Japan, France, New Zealand and Spain), all competing to win a total of Rp250 million in prizes. The open competition also coincides with the World Rhino Day commemorated in September. Besides some national athletes, like Muhammad Taufik, Adi Akhmad Jukardy and Eva Desiana, some public figures, who are known to be sport enthusiasts and athletes, such as the senior model, Kelly Tandiono, Chaidir Akbar and Fajar Alexa, are said to be participating.
Event Director of Rhino X-Tri 2018, Tense Manalusaid, “This year’s Rhino X-Tri offers extra challenges and excitement. Unlike last year, this year’s cross triathlon will be longer. Rhino X-Tri will have three categories. We have Eagle, a new category which pit the participant in a 1,500-meter swimming competition, followed by 30-kilometer bicycle race, and 15-kilometer running. The Rhino category features a 1,000-meter swimming race, followed 20-kilometer bicycle race and a 10-kilometer running. In the last category, Bull, the athletes compete in a 500-meter swimming race, a 10-kilometer bicycle race and five-kilometer running. In Rhino Mountain Bike Cross Country Marathon (MTB XCM), there will several categories: Men Elite, Women Open, Men Open and Men Master.
