A Charity Programme by G Hotel
G Hotel has launched ‘A Time to Give’, Christmas charity programme in aid of the children from the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home to grant the simple wishes of the children. This charity programme is one of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives by the hotel and it is opened for public to participate in this charity programme.
30 children from the Home have sent their 2 wishes to the hotel and is later put into words on the wish cards, getting the public to pick their wishes and buy the gifts from 28 November to 17 December 2018. All wish cards represented each child from the Home which includes their name, age, gender and wishes.
Most of the wishes from the children are clothes, story books, stationery sets, sport shoes, and toys. Due to the overwhelming response received from the guests and staff donors, G Hotel has kindly added 2 more wishes for every children. With that, a total of 150 wish cards have been given away with 5 gifts for each children. It’s a great joy to see the overflowing of presents placed underneath the Christmas tree.
On 20 December 2018, children of The Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home were invited to the hotel to receive and unwrap their presents. The children celebrated this joyful day of Christmas in the G Hotel Gurney lobby with G Hotel associates as well as guests who contributed to the programme.
The event started with a welcoming speech by Mr Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel and followed by the performance of Christmas carols and dance by the children. The children then receive their Christmas presents with great excitement and enthusiast. During the ceremony, the children from the Home lined up in a row to take their presents.As soon as they unwrap their Christmas presents, the children grin from ear to ear when they see the wishes that they made were being fulfilled, and were surprised with more than what they asked for from the additional wish cards allocated for them.

Many have returned every single year to support the programme. For that, we would like to thank the public for the great support”, said Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel.
The more blessed we realized we are, the more we realize we have to give. The more we give, the more we receive. ‘A Time to Give’ has once again successfully moved the hearts of the public to give in this season of giving and blessed many young souls.
