Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort announces the appointment of Marie Browne as the resort’s new General Manager. On her first appointments as a property general manager, Marie oversees the daily operations of the 203 guest rooms and suites, three dining venues, and a spa facility within the resort area which is located right across the legendary Kuta Beach and adjacent to the island’s premium shopping destination, Beachwalk.
A passionate hotelier with more than 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Marie started her career with The Ritz-Carlton Tyson’s Corner in Virginia, United States of America as a trainee, she then subsequently moved up the career ladder with various Operations positions for Ritz-Carlton’s properties in the United States and the Caribbean. In 2010, she moved to her first above property role in The Americas before making her way to Asia as Marriott International’s Director of Operations for Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
Working as an expert for rooms and operations, Marie has supported over 30 hotel openings and conversions globally including on-property and taskforce assignments across Marriott International’s portfolio of brands, including Ritz- Carlton, Marriott, Renaissance, Westin, Courtyard, and Moxy, to name a few. Before opting in for the island life, Marie was Marriott International’s Area Director of Operations for Indonesia, a position she held since 2014.
“I’ve visited Bali numerous times at my previous role and it is always a destination that I look forward to. I love the Balinese innate hospitality and genuine caring spirit. I am excited to have the opportunity to take on this role at one of Marriott International’s leading resort, Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. I look forward to working closely with the hotel team and key partners to continue in delivering a true Sheraton experience, on top of that also lift up Kuta as a destination,” explains Marie on her latest role assignment.
Marie is currently doing her Master’s Degree, to be completed in 2019, a complement to her Degree in Hotel and Catering Management from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology in Ireland. When she is not busy taking care of the hotel’s operations, she loves to travel and experience new cultures, starting with the food.
