AccorHotels Jakarta launches RiiSE as the new way to support diversity in Kartini Day
After 6 years of successful WAAG (Woman at Accor Generation) program, AccorHotels as the leading international hotel chain has announced RiiSE, the new identity to promote diversity.
Every 21 April, people all accross Indonesia commemorate R.A. Kartini, the Indonesian hero of women empowerment. As the pioneer of emancipation, Kartini emphasize about the importance of education for women as the first teacher to their children. Together with the Kartini Day celebration, AccorHotels Greater Jakarta held the seminar with the theme “We all RiiSE to new heights and new horizon” on April 22nd, 2019.
Launched in Skyloft Restaurant from All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin, the seminar presented Mr Carlos Monterde – GM Fairmont Jakarta, Mr Engkun Kurnia – GM Grand Mercure Bandung Setiabudi, and Ms Riana Tobing – Talent Manager AccorHotels.
Opened and greeted by Ms Lisa P Sanjoyo as the RiiSE committee, the event was attended by the representatives of employee and managers from 35 hotels of various AccorHotels brands in Jakarta and its surroundings, namely Raffles, Fairmont, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, ibis Styles (including all seasons), ibis, and ibis budget.
Renamed to RiiSE, the new program from AccorHotels is open for both men and women. A double “ii” in RiiSE symbolize people who are committed to the values of sharing knowledge, solidarity and combatting stereotypes. Through a mentoring program in 2018, there are 900 pairs across 20 countries that help to support the promotion of female talent to positions of responsibility and combatting all forms of discrimination.
Ms Lisa as the committee said, “I am proud to be a part of this campaign. Because we believe that RiiSE will set the example that promoting gender diversity is everyone’s duty regardless of their own gender. With gender equality and spirit of combatting stereotypes, we will reach a new goal to actively promote the recognition of all talents.”
