Alila Anji unveils a series of new experiences for guests to enjoy this autumn and winter, encompassing dining, outdoor adventure and new ways to unwind.
Lao Mah House – New Signature Farm-style Dining
This October, a new dining destination at Alila Anji is born out of culinary passion and Alila artisanship. Continuing the commitment to elevate the guest experience, inspired by local culture and love for the local surroundings, Lao Mah House (or Lao Mah Jia in Chinese) will offer guests an intimate farmhouse dining experience with a homely countryside feel.
Named after the resort’s owner, Dr. Senior Mah, Lao Mah House lies nestled in a tranquil spot that is a gentle 15-20 minute walk from the resort’s main gate, meandering past bamboo forests, chestnut trees, white tea plantations and picturesque views of Tianfu Lake. Alternatively, guests can grab any of the resort’s complimentary bikes for a scenic ride.
“The new farmhouse dining experience offers a walk back in history. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy an alfresco lunch with a view, stroll to the nearby White Tea Hill, learn about our herb gardens or pick up a brush and paint the lake on a complimentary sketchboard provided.” shares Jack Widagdo, Alila Anji’s General Manager. “Our guests no longer need to venture out in search of a local lunch; we have it all. Likewise, external guests visiting the property will also be able to enjoy the new Signature Farm-style Dining. Not to mention, it is pet-friendly.”
Unique not only to Anji but also to Alila and Hyatt, the new Signature Farm-style Dining experience within the resort grounds is surrounded by the spectacular panorama of nature. Here guests can indulge in the pleasures of gourmet comfort food created by homegrown local Executive Chef Jason Zhu and his team, which showcases seasonal produce and fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices grown in the resort’s organic gardens. This vibrant array of ingredients is crafted into exceptional culinary offerings, providing guests with a choice of home-style local Anji dishes or the sumptuous, smoky flavours of a street-style mountain barbecue.
In keeping with Alila Anji’s commitment to tread lightly on the environment, this once farmhouse has been renovated in a sustainable manner using recycled materials, salvaged furniture and household items, transforming it into a delightful dining venue in keeping with its original rustic charm.
Lao Mah House has space to accommodate 25 guests indoors (including private dining rooms), as well as at least 25 guests outdoors and 20 guests in the bar lounge area. It is best for lunch from 11.30am – 3.30pm. Given its very peaceful and secluded setting, it is also equally exquisite for private evening events and exclusive celebrations, be it for a wedding reception, a reunion with friends, a family gathering or a romantic marriage proposal, overlooking Tianfu Lake where guests can enjoy breathing in the fresh country air and being serenaded by music and birdsong.
Sidecar Adventure and Alila Fushi
Those who enjoy a bit of a thrill can ride in style with Alila Anji’s latest Sidecar Adventure to Lao Mah House. The Sidecar Adventure is available daily from11am – 2pm and advance booking is required. Alternatively, guests can book Anji’s only electric boat within a resort. Named ‘Alila Fushi’, the boat seats 12 guests. “Guests can enjoy the calm water of Tianfu Lake, look across to the resort from the other side for a completely different experience, or take it to the next level with a GODIVA high tea on the boat,“ adds Jack.
The Fit Stops
Before enjoying lunch at Lao Mah House, a recommended itinerary is to take a walk through Alila Anji’s own White Tea Hill and enter the ‘Panda Trail’, the nickname for the path within the mountain of bamboo forests. The entire walk takes around 30-45 minutes (10 minutes of which are challengingly steep), with suggested stops at any of the trail’s designated Fit Stops, outdoor exercise stations to keep you fit while soaking in the view and fresh air. “While our gym is a state-of-the-art facility, the Panda Trail and Fit Stops are for those who enjoy an outdoor challenge or their own ‘Amazing Race’, Anji mountain style,” explains Jack.
Crouching Tiger – a Speakeasy Lounge
For an evening of winding down and entertainment, guests need look no further than the newly converted Speakeasy Lounge, hidden on Level 1 of the resort’s main building and accessible through private arrangement only. Here, up to eight guests can enjoy a private movie session with wines, whiskeys and cocktails, or simply enjoy the lounge’s collection of cigars and pipes.
