Mercedes-Benz announces the return of the highly-anticipated MercedesTrophy, the renowned international golf tournament that is open to Mercedes-Benz customers to experience the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle through their passion for golf, January 22, 2020.
The 24th edition of MercedesTrophy Indonesia provides wider opportunities for loyal customers of Mercedes- Benz to participate and compete to become Indonesia’s representatives to the MercedesTrophy Asian Final. A total of 15-20 qualifying rounds are in the planning partnering with the golfing community in Indonesia. The top players amongst the participants that are Mercedes-Benz owners will qualify to play at the MercedesTrophy Indonesia Final which will be held on 17 June, 2020.
As an exclusive international invitation tournament series, the history of MercedesTrophy can be traced back to 1989 when Mercedes-Benz held a series of tournament for amateurs at national level. New name and new format, then, given to the event and the first MercedesTrophy was started in 1991.
With around 65.000 golfers from 60 different countries participated for the event every year, MercedesTrophy has become the most anticipated event for amateur golfers, especially those who own Mercedes-Benz cars.
Currently, MercedesTrophy has a three-stage tournament structure. The first stage will be tournaments at local level, in which players can qualify for the national finals and subsequently the regional finals, followed by the World Final, which is traditionally held in Stuttgart, Germany, the home of Mercedes-Benz.
As golf and Mercedes-Benz also create a very strong association, reflected within the brand’s philosophy — Responsibility, Fascination, and Perfection — it also helps create enthusiasm between Mercedes-Benz owners in Indonesia and the first MercedesTrophy Indonesia was then held in 1992. Just a year after, the event became a worldwide golf tournament series.
Loyal golfing customers will be able to join MercedesTrophy Indonesia 2020. Through 23 editions, Indonesian players have successfully represented the country at the Asian Final and World Final stages. This year Mercedes- Benz will organize the 24th edition of the most consistent golf tournament held by any automotive brand in Indonesia.
“Golf is a great sport that is played across all age groups and in my opinion, it is one of the most fascinating and multi-faceted sports there is. It is well-balanced with a combination of leisure, competition and camaraderie among players over the course of a rendez-vous on the green. With the MercedesTrophy we are able to offer a sporting event, reflecting the brilliant connection of sports and lifestyle and underlining the premier status for Mercedes-Benz,” says Choi Duk Jun, President Director, PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia.
Drive to the Major
‘Drive to the Major’ is the single entry point worldwide to win a spot in the ‘Monday After Event’ played directly after The Open later this year at the Carnoustie Golf Links, Scotland, on the same course as legends and golf professionals have played the day before for the prestigious Claret Jug. Drive to the Major is implemented via the special competition – ‘Straightest Drive’/ ‘Nearest to the Line’ at the MercedesTrophy Asian Final in Australia. Only Mercedes-Benz can lay claim to this exclusive opportunity, where the MercedesTrophy premium amateur series is combined with a major.
