By Bringing the UEFA Champions League to the Home of Indonesians
UEFA Champions League remains one of the most anticipated annual football competitions in the world, despite the change in how people around the world watch its matches, including in Indonesia.
As the world’s premium beer brand and the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League since 2005, Heineken® continues to show its long-standing support for the competition and the fans through the launch of #NeverAlone in Indonesia.
Heineken® brings football fans together through their shared love for the brand as the perfect companion to enjoy the atmosphere of the UEFA Champions League, which remains one of the most popular and social events in the world.
“Constantly changing restrictions and limited bar capacities have caused many fans to watch football matches alone from home. At Heineken®, we believe that, with football, we are never alone. Every one of us experiences the highs and lows for the full 90 minutes of play, because there are millions of fans across the globe who are always watching together, even if they are watching alone,“ said Jessica Setiawan, Marketing Director of Multi Bintang Indonesia, part of the Heineken Company.
As the pandemic changes today’s landscape, Heineken® wants to bring the festivity of this year’s UEFA Champions League to the home of its fans in Indonesia. Heineken® will be giving its consumers and Indonesian football fans a new meaningful experience with the launch of the ‘Hospitality at Home’ event, a virtual meet and greet with one of European football legends who also watches the matches responsibly at home.
For more information on how to win the virtual fan meet and greet, fans can visit Heineken® Indonesia’s Instagram account (@heinekenid).
“As a world-class beer brand, Heineken® always strives to give our consumers the best and the most authentic experiences. With Indonesia having one of the largest football fan bases in the world, we are excited to bring in a UEFA Champions League Legend for the fans to virtually meet and interact with, especially during this extraordinary time,” closed Jessica.
The UEFA Champions League remains one of the most followed sports competitions in the world, of which Heineken® has been a proud official beer sponsor for 16 years. However, the brewer’s relationship with UEFA is already well established, stretching over 25 years, previously with the brand Amstel.
Having been initially called the European Champion Clubs’ Cup then renamed to UEFA Champions League back in 1992, the competition celebrates its 66th season this year, where the final match is scheduled to take place on 29 May 2021 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
To support all campaigns, in 2020 Heineken® launched #SocialiseResponsibly, which also encourages people to connect and enjoy being together in a safe environment during a time where safety has become a major concern.
