Established in 1984, Dewan is an international architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firm with offices in seven countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia that specialises in the conceptualisation and realisation of mixed-use developments, hospitality, residential, commercial, education, retail, and urban planning.
The firm has been at the forefront of the Middle East’s booming architectural and engineering design sector for more than three decades, becoming a prominent and integral contributor to the Emirate’s burgeoning and iconic skyline. Today, Dewan is recognised as a global multi-disciplinary practice, and its explosive growth has made their team a go-to resource around the world for design, architecture, and engineering expertise.
The Solforest Ecopark, The Haiphong Tower
In Asia, the firm’s Vietnam projects exemplify its unique design expertise from The Solforest Ecopark located in Hanoi which was inspired by the Ecopark Master Plan model of green living lifestyle and the community culture of Vietnamese cities. The design application introduces a modern organically induced vertical garden design offering the users of the development many hidden gems to discover and enjoy.
The Haiphong Tower is a complex mixed-use development with several uses in a compact plot. The circulation and people access was the main challenge to address for the different components of the development whilst the Vung Tau Hotel located at the southern end of the island of Vung Tau is a six-star hotel experience born from an impeccable integration of the interior spaces and exterior landscape.
Mamsha Al Saadiyat. – The Address Fountain Views – Dubai
The firm’s most recently unveiled projects include the iconic Mamsha Al Saadiyat. The mixed-use development is inspired by the art of the cultural district and charm of the Saadiyat coastline. Through a carefully curated design, Dewan created a public realm that blurs the line between public and private – with a park, promenade, and plazas that are welcoming to residents, patrons, guests, and beachgoers alike.
The team also recently completed The Address Fountain Views, which includes both a five-star Address Hotel + Resort and a series of luxury residences in Downtown Dubai, all with spectacular and unobstructed views of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building and Dubai Fountain.
Dewan considers itself as a large “boutique” design consultancy firm, equipped to handle any project size. Many of the staff have been with the company since the beginning and all shareholders are actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the company and the project designs.
From a good-practice design point of view, sustainability is one of Dewan’s core design
guidelines, along with the principles of form and function. As the sustainability industry has grown, Dewan has continued to adapt and diligently follow the movement to design buildings that perform, function, and operate in a more environmentally sensitive manner – with many of its architects and engineers certified in LEED and Estidama.
Dewan also encourages continuous sustainability awareness campaigns, CSR initiatives and continued education through lectures and conferences to underscore its commitment.
