Pacific Place
Architectural Digest named Pacific Place one of the most beautifully designed malls in the world. But the real beauty lies within. Beyond the design, materials and attention to detail, beyond the retail mix and customer journey, is the idea of Pacific Place itself. Swire Properties saw the site for something different.
A mixed-use development combining luxury retail, commercial office towers and several hotels. It was to be the first of its kind. In 2011 the designer Thomas Heatherwick was engaged to contemporise the development. His use of fluid forms and natural materials, helped to set new industry benchmark for lifestyle experience. Still the place to be, thirty years on.
Starstreet Precinct
Every major city has its cool happening corners. The places where up-and-coming restaurants, cosy cafes, galleries, home design stores and unique community events seem to be. The places that attract the cool crowd.
What makes one neighbourhood seem to shine brighter than all the others? In the case of Star Street in Hong Kong, it was original thinking. Named one of Time Out’s coolest streets in the world in 2021, the success of this once overlooked corner of Wan Chai, was by design. Swire Properties saw the potential in the area for an eclectic mix of modern residential, commercial and lifestyle experiences, and creates it as one of the world’s coolest streets.
