Roopa Vyas
Roopa Vyas grew up in South Wales and fell in love with LFC through her father, a devoted Liverpool supporter. She chose to study in Liverpool for university so that she could be closer to the team she adores. Since moving to the city, she’s forged a strong connection with the club through her work with Her Game Too, a campaign to stop sexist abuse in sport.
She has close contact with Liverpool’s equality, diversity and inclusion leader who she feels has been supportive and responsive to her ambitions to make football safer, more inclusive and ultimately more fun for women. Roopa’s football knowledge has led to her contributing to mainstream publications, with her analysis and commentary appearing on the BBC.
Sterling Rose Kelly
Sterling Rose Kelly is a multidisciplinary artist who became passionate about LFC through their family. From an early age they expressed an interest in playing, joining a boys’ team with their brother as they felt more comfortable with the culture there. But it was through creativity that Sterling was really able to express their adoration of football, filling school books with collages dedicated to the club, covering their bedroom walls with art inspired by Liverpool FC.
Sterling is a visual communicator with an anarchic style who studied at the Manchester School of Art. While studying, Sterling created a project based around women’s connection to football and the roles that they play, such as knitting and weaving scarves, to demonstrate the hidden matriarchy that exists within the game. They are also the bassist for post-punk band The Red Stains.
Rain Castillo
Rain Castillo’s parents moved from the Philippines to Liverpool to work in the NHS when she was just a toddler. Initially, she found it difficult to adjust to being different and experienced casual racism from an early age. However, the strength and unity that she found amongst her friends and Liverpool’s fanbase helped her to overcome any fears of not fitting in.
She’s a talented singer and musician, appearing on The Voice and reaching the semi-finals in 2022. Rain is also passionate about improving gender inclusivity in football and excited for the future of the women’s game.
