The sixth edition of ArtMoments Jakarta features a selection of the most prominent galleries in Indonesia, as well as galleries from the region.
ArtMoments Jakarta returns, bringing together art enthusiasts and collectors with renowned galleries from Indonesia and beyond in its annual event. The highly anticipated sixth edition of this art fair is set to occur from August 18th to 20th, 2023, at the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel, showcasing 25 prominent national and international art galleries.
“With the presence of ArtMoments Jakarta 2023, we want to drive significant progress in the Indonesian art industry. We seek to broaden art appreciation and stimulate a rich cultural dialogue by presenting quality works from various perspectives. By facilitating interactions between artists, collectors, and art connoisseurs, we pave the way for more growth and connection in the creative landscape,” said Sendy Widjaja, Co-Founder and Fair Director of ArtMoments Jakarta.
The opening of ArtMoments Jakarta 2023 took place on 18 August 2023 and was attended by esteemed VIP guests and members of the media. The occasion featured a symbolic flower-cutting ceremony at the installation “Perjalanan: Bunga yang Bercerita” by acclaimed floral artist Nina Nasution.
Each year, ArtMoments Jakarta presents artworks by renowned artists. Highlights this year include Japanese artist Miwa Komatsu (presented by Whitestone Gallery), Arkiv Vilmansa (presented by G3N Project x Museum of Toys), the internationally-known Indonesian contemporary artists Eko Nugroho, and Heri Dono (presented by The Columns Gallery), Handiwirman (presented by Gajah Gallery), emerging Indonesian artist Laksamana Ryo (presented by Gallery Afternoon), and Indonesian painter Erizal (presented by Gajah Gallery), among other exciting artists.
The public program of ArtMoments Jakarta 2023 includes panel discussions and workshops, titled Converse Moments and Maker Moments respectively. One of ArtMoments’ missions is to create a more inclusive and socially responsible Fair, and this year’s Maker Moments once again collaborates with the Indonesian Special Family Forum (FORKESI), which will oversee an art workshop involving children aged 8-15 with special needs.
Another Maker Moments program is the Plasticology workshop by Balinese artist and environmental activist I Made Bayak, where participants will learn how to repurpose plastic waste into works of art.
Another highlight is the announcement of the annual charity auction at ArtMoments Jakarta. This year, the auction will be led by the fair’s Official Auction Partner, Masterpiece. This auction event will facilitate the sale of notable artworks from the personal collection of the late Leo Silitonga, who was a Founder of ArtMoments Jakarta.
