For the last eight years, Da Maria has established itself as one of Bali’s most stylish Italian eateries. With a decor inspired by the island of Capri, the menu focuses on the most revered dishes from tip to toe of the boot.
Executive Chef of Da Maria, Luigis and Berawa’s Mosto, Lorenzo DePetris, has been at the helm of the venues for two years, building on the existing menu while refining and adding his personal touches.
“Da Maria has a very distinctive style and it was important to work with what has been such a success. At the same time,” he explains “I’ve introduced new dishes that work well on this menu and reflect my culinary roots.”
Chef Lorenzo’s passion for regional Italian cuisine began at Restaurant Duomo, a much-loved Sicilian restaurant with 2 Michelin stars. There he discovered a different style of cooking and new ingredients; his passion for cooking was ignited, his love affair with regional dishes began and the inspiration for the upcoming dinner series found its roots.
Launched in November, Chef Lorenzo, A Piemonte native, has created a series of monthly dinners aimed at taking diners on a culinary journey through some of his favourite regions of Italy.
Keeping with Da Maria’s stunning style and personality, the one-off dinners will introduce dishes that define six very different regions of Italy, each has a personal connection for the Chef.
The series begins and ends with two distinct islands: Sicily comes first, and Sardinia is last. In between, Chef Lorenzo takes us through the regions that have brought us much-loved dishes like Carbonara and Cacio e Pepe while introducing lesser-known regional dishes to these special menus.
Running from November to April 2024, each dinner will feature a set menu for 2 or more guests. The price will include a welcome aperitivo and a small wine list from each region.
Bookings will open in advance of each of the dinners.
The schedule:
- Nov 7 – SICILIA
- Dec 5 – PIEMONTE
- Jan 16 – LIGURIA
- Feb 6 – MARCHE
- March 5 – LAZIO
- April 9 – SARDEGNA
