Motel Mexicola Canggu Fires Up for its 1st Aniversario

Piñata breaking, margarita shaken’, taco slinging “jardín paraíso;” Motel Mexicola’s Canggu 1st Aniversario is a celebration dowsed in the spirit of the motherland.   

When every night is Saturday night, how does one celebrate a year of spontaneous, sun-kissed table dancing? With a hell of a party of course. Your favorite “ahuevo cabrones-amazing-antojeria-and-tequileria” is calling all friends to join them on Wednesday, July 31 for an all-night, pib-fired fiesta to celebrate one year of Motel Mexicola Canggu.

Kicking off at 5 PM, get down early for two hours of “Tacos Gratis Para Todos” – a complimentary free-flow of red-hot, hand-pressed tacos filled with Executive Chef, Steven Skelly’s off-their-head creations. Think of it as Motel Mexicola’s way of saying ‘muchas gracias.’

The venue’s signature eight-metre traditional Pib oven will be in full, firing force, slowly cooking dishes like the famous 12-hour cochinita pibil. Also, on offer is Motel Mexicola’s signature Taco Baja, Taco Champinon (crispy oyster mushroom), and other modern takes on “comida mexicana.”

The man behind the drinks list (and possibly, your hangover) Denny Bakiev, Group Beverage Director, will naturally be in residence, overseeing a lineup that always hits. Micheladas made right and mind-blowing Margaritas, party-starting Paloma’s closely followed by one too many reposados; what comes next is anyone’s guess.

Soundtracked by a live band, a heaving dance floor goes hand-in-hand with shouts of “Uno mas por favor!” It’s the essence of the Yucatán Peninsula intertwined with the free soul of our island home. Put simply, a party so good you’ll be thanking the Mayan Gods. Andale!
