2024 Thailand Halal Product Business Matching

Building Halal Business Networks in Indonesia

In a strategic step to strengthen trade relations and increase the penetration of Thai halal products in the Indonesian market, Thailand will hold an event titled “2024 Thailand Halal Product Business Matching.” Hosted at the Kempinski Hotel Jakarta on September 3, 2024, this event will not only feature seminars with competent speakers but also present business matching sessions that connect Thai business owners with Indonesian entrepreneurs.

Initiated by the Thai Trade Center (TTC) Jakarta and the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), this event offers a unique opportunity for Thai businesses to gain a deeper understanding of the Indonesian halal market, one of the largest halal markets in the world.

“This event not only strengthens trade relations between the two countries but also opens up broader opportunities for future collaboration. We believe that through direct interaction with Indonesian business players, the Thai delegation will be able to expand their networks and create mutually beneficial business opportunities,” said Mrs. Hataichanok Sivara, Director of the Thai Trade Center Jakarta.

The 2024 Thailand Halal Product Business Matching is expected to be a significant opportunity for Thai halal product entrepreneurs to gain deeper insights into the Indonesian halal market while expanding their business networks in the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. During this visit, Thai delegates will have the chance to meet potential business partners in Indonesia and identify collaboration opportunities.

Additionally, delegates can strengthen the image of Thai halal products in Indonesia through direct interactions with market players and local stakeholders. The market survey conducted during the event will help entrepreneurs better understand Indonesian consumer needs and preferences, providing a foundation for more effective expansion strategies.

Halal Terminology

Halal is an Arabic term meaning ‘permissible.’ This concept is not limited to food and drink but extends to various aspects of Muslim life, including clothing, finance, and daily behavior.

In the context of food, a product is considered halal if it meets specific requirements set by Islamic law. Halal food must be clean and free from prohibited substances, such as blood or alcohol. The process of slaughtering animals must also adhere to Islamic rules, including reciting the name of Allah during slaughter.

Moreover, halal food must not come from prohibited animals, such as pigs, carnivorous animals, or predatory birds. Products should also be processed, manufactured, or stored using equipment or machines that have been cleaned according to Islamic law. This principle of cleanliness ensures that there is no contamination from prohibited substances.
