Importance of Halal Products in Indonesia
Halal products are crucial in Indonesia due to the country’s status as having the largest Muslim population in the world, with around 88.1% of the total population being Muslim. Given this demographic, Indonesia has the potential to become the largest market for halal products globally.
The development of the halal market in Indonesia shows significant figures. As of February 2024, the number of halal-certified products reached 3,920,811, including 1,350,947 products using the self-declaration method. The trade value of halal products in Indonesia from January to October 2023 reached USD 53.43 billion, comprising USD 42.33 billion in exports and USD 11.10 billion in imports.
This achievement has been recognized by the BPJPH Ministry of Religious Affairs, particularly for 15 Indonesian companies dominating half of the top 30 halal product companies in the OIC.
With the global halal industry, especially in Indonesia, growing rapidly, the 2024 Thailand Halal Product Business Matching will be a crucial platform for Thai businesses to strengthen their presence in the international market and contribute to the growth of the halal industry in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia.
