Chakra One: A Local Cigar Ready to Compete on the Global Stage

PT Chakra Satu Indonesia has launched Chakra One, a local cigar brand produced in Jember, leveraging local raw materials and involving small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This cigar is designed to be enjoyed by people from all walks of life, offering an affordable price and quality that rivals imported cigars.

Noverizky Tri Putra, one of the owners of Chakra One, stated that the product aims to change the perception that cigars are expensive and exclusive. “Chakra represents that cigars don’t always have to be expensive and exclusive. We want these cigars to be enjoyed by everyone, from all levels of society,” Noverizky explained during a press conference in 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Dharmawangsa Square, September 5, 2024.

Chakra One embraces the concept of empowering the local economy by collaborating with numerous tobacco farmers in Jember, a region renowned for its high-quality tobacco. “We involve many local farmers in the production process. Most of the tobacco leaves used come from local cultivation in Jember, known for their quality,” Noverizky noted.

The product also boasts a balanced flavor philosophy, crafted to suit both beginners and experienced cigar enthusiasts. “The flavor we offer is very balanced, making it ideal for anyone new to cigars. Chakra is a beginner-friendly cigar,” he added.

Ambition to Enter the International Market

Chakra One aims not only to cater to the local market but also has big ambitions to compete internationally. Benny Prasetyo, another owner, believes that Indonesian tobacco quality can rival that of top-producing countries like Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

“Indonesia also has high-quality tobacco, and Chakra is a testament to that. We want the world to know that Indonesia can produce cigars that compete on the international stage,” Benny stated.

To broaden market reach, Chakra One will be available not only through online platforms and marketplaces but also in modern retail outlets like Indomaret and Alfamart.

“We want these cigars to be accessible everywhere, not just in exclusive places. Everyone should be able to enjoy them,” said Noverizky. Priced around IDR 160,000 per cigar or IDR 1,500,000 per box of 10, Chakra One aims to appeal to a wide audience, including younger consumers.
