A new year, a new hope, and of course, a new spirit! Thus Airwalk kickstarts this year with a series of events under “Start with a Bang” movement, a high level of synergy between the skateboarding community, cultural trendsetter, and music lovers, all under one roof, to celebrate the creativity, activity, and passion of our youth.
This month, Airwalk is collaborating with Bash Skatepark to bring Skatepark Takeover, a competitive and musical event set to infuse passion, style and performance into the spirit that they share with Airwalk: Youth. Senior Brand Marketing Manager of Airwalk Indonesia, Erisa Putriyanita, explained during the event last Saturday (11/01). The Airwalk and Bash Skatepark collaboration fuses their aligned visions together: To reinforce skateboarding culture and bring communities together through pure creativity, action, and lifestyle experiences.
Known as a timeless skate icon since California in the 1980s that blends style, comfort and function, Airwalk wants to not only provide a platform for skaters from all walks of life to compete, connect and celebrate their world, but also spark young people’s interest and determination to participate and share.
This competition, which was attended by participants both from the community and individuals, was mostly attended predominantly by Gen A kids who were still under 15 years old of age, although their performance was fairly yet to be inferior compared to their grown-up counterparts.
“This Skatepark Take Over event is a kind of throwback time, a moment of remembrance while celebrating the Airwalk brand which is so fragrant and famous among the street culture activist community. As an Airwalk brand-loyal customer, I love watching kids with their street style in action, while openly feeling proud wearing the brand as well. Because Airwalk and Bash share the same passion in skateboarding scene, so once this golden opportunity comes, I welcome this collaboration with Airwalk.” So stated the initiator of Bash Skatepark, Kitsegaf during the same occasion.
“Start with a Bang” by Airwalk also features a series of special mural designs by chocoseven mural artists, specifically within the framework of the Airwalk and Bash Skatepark collaboration featuring Flickering Flames: An inspiration taken from the skateboarding world against the background of the sparkling light of the city of Jakarta, which never dulls as the captured movements and expressions of our skaters become the brush strokes over a metropolitan canvas.
