Saka Museum at Ayana Bali proudly announces the launch of three new exhibitions, offering visitors a deep dive into the richness of Balinese culture. Opening in early April 2025, just after the celebration of Nyepi, the Balinese New Year, these exhibitions provide a unique opportunity to explore the traditions, spirituality, and local wisdom that are at the heart of Balinese life.
New and Captivating Exhibitions
The three new exhibitions include:
- Kasanga: Hari Raya Nyepi – This exhibition invites visitors to experience the depth of Balinese spirituality through various artworks depicting the stages of Nyepi, the most sacred day in the Balinese calendar.
- Subak: The Ancient Order of Bali – This exhibition explores Bali’s traditional agricultural and irrigation system, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Visitors will gain insight into how the Subak system not only supports agriculture but also reflects the harmony between humans, nature, and spirituality.
- Heritage Gallery: The Five Elements (Panca Maha Bhuta) – This exhibition delves into the ancient spiritual teachings of the five core elements that shape life in Bali: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Through art installations and in-depth information, visitors will understand how these elements influence daily life in Bali.
A Holistic Experience of Balinese Culture
These new exhibitions complement SAKA Museum’s existing collections, such as Sasi Wimba Haneng Gata Poem, Palelintangan: Balinese Astrology, and Ogoh-ogoh: Walking Among Giants. Together, they create a holistic experience that allows visitors to understand the spiritual philosophy of Bali, particularly the principle of Tri Hita Karana – the balance between God, nature, and humanity.
Marlowe Bandem, Executive Advisor of SAKA Museum, explained, “Through these exhibitions, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the vital role these traditions play in the lives of the Balinese people – how they guide spiritual practices, regulate the rhythm of life on the island, and shape the collective consciousness of Balinese society.”
