Few destinations offer the iconic setting, classical romance and vibrant history of Aman Sveti Stefan. Launched in 2010 after years of painstaking renovation, this jewel on the Adriatic coastline will celebrate the culmination of its epic renewal this summer with an art exhibition of original works by Picasso, Chagall and Miró. Other finishing touches include the addition of a new resort helicopter, a brand new fleet of A-class Mercedes Benz for private guest transfers, and the launch of a new one-bedroom – the epitome of privacy and seclusion.
With its pink sandy beaches, 15th-century island village, 1930’s mainland estate and sublime Aman Spa, Aman Sveti Stefan is a multifaceted masterpiece with universal appeal. Running from 12th July – 8th September this year, the resort’s one-of-a-kind art exhibition will feature masterpieces of the more literal kind in a number of exquisite venues on the property.
More than 60 original lithographs by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Joan Miró will be on display in Villa Miločer on the mainland, in the Pasticceria and Cigar Room on the island’s Piazza, and within Arva, the island’s elegant Italian restaurant.
Titled “Les Ateliers: Picasso, Chagall, Miró”, the exhibition represents a world first in bringing together lithographs of these three fabled modern and surrealist artists. Works include Picasso’s intriguing ‘Deux Femmes’, Chagall’s poignant ‘Les Amoureux’ and Miró’s enigmatic ‘Le Lézard aux Plumes d’Or’ series. Curated to complement the spaces in which they are situated, the artworks will be on show to Aman Sveti Stefan guests alone, enhancing the already rarefied atmosphere of this exceptional destination.
Adding to the resort’s existing accommodation options, the new one-bedroom cottage offers beautiful sea views from its own private terrace. This cottage joins the resort’s eight suites at Villa Miločer and 51 village rooms, cottages and suites on the island, including the two-storey Sveti Stefan Suite with its own private swimming pool. Depending on location, views are of the sea, rooftops or quaint courtyards and piazzas, and every room, cottage and suite on the island is completely unique, as one would expect from a destination that evolved from a 15th-century island fortress.
This summer will also welcome two new wellness specialists to the property. Daniela DaSilva is a certified mindfulness, meditation and yoga teacher while Robert Hyrsky is a reconnective Healer who specialises in detox massage and craniosacral therapy.
Surrounded by gardens with beautiful sea views, the resort’s standalone Aman Spa is set back from Queen’s Beach. It offers four treatment suites, relaxation rooms and terraces, and hydrotherapy rooms with saunas, cold plunge pools and steam showers. The 24-metre indoor heated swimming pool extends outdoors for an additional 8 metres, while the Fitness Centre includes a Pilates studio and comprehensive 140-square-metre gym. There is also a small gym on the island, along with six spa cottages.
In addition to the Spa’s swimming pool, there are two swimming pools on the island. The main lap pool is located on the lower terrace on the west side of the island, while the second, for adults only, is set on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Both are surrounded by sun loungers and offer casual dining throughout the day.
The resort’s more formal dining venues include the Dining Room, Loggia and the Living Room at Villa Miločer, various convivial eateries around the Piazza on the island, and Arva, also on the island. The latter is open for dinner with two terraces offering breathtaking sea views, and the Rakija Bar on the upper terrace.
With Picasso’s ‘Deux Femmes’ catching eyes and Chagall’s ‘Groupe des Paysans’ waving across the room, Aman Sveti Stefan guests will be in excellent company this summer, whether dining on Arva’s effortlessly delicious Italian cuisine, relaxing in Villa Miločer’s timeless Living Room or socialising in the Piazza. Says Aman Sveti Stefan General Manager Sven Van Den Broeck “The utterly unique nature of original art is what the Aman experience aspires to be for every guest – original, authentic and irreplaceable. We are honoured to house these priceless works of art at Aman Sveti Stefan this summer, and look forward to sharing them with our guests.”
