Five-Day Event from 15-19 February 2023 Featured Big Giveaways, Live Demonstrations, Upbeat Entertainment and More
Accor, the region’s largest international hotel operator, has successfully staged Indonesia’s inaugural “City of ALL” event in Surabaya. This spectacular brand showcase, which ran from 15th to 19th February 2023, introduced an array of exclusive offers, enticing discounts and uplifting entertainment to members, local consumers, travel trade visitors and wedding planners.
Hosted at Atrium Tunjungan Plaza 3, the major lifestyle hub in the heart of Surabaya supported by CIMB Niaga and Zees, attendees were able to snap up great deals with up to 40% off rates to hundreds participating hotels and resorts across Indonesia, along with tempting dining promotions including a Ramadhan dining offer and wedding packages. Visitors were also treated to upbeat performances, live demonstrations, musical acts and fashion shows, while a “Wheel of Fortune” and “Mystery Boxes” featured fantastic prizes and a photo booth provided a memento of the occasion.
Visitors were also introduced to the wealth of advantages offered by ALL – Accor Live Limitless – the group’s global loyalty program. ALL allows members “experience the extraordinary” with extensive rewards, unique perks and exceptional events. The dedicated ALL mobile app puts a world of benefits at its members’ fingertips.
For trade delegates, ALL created a range of dedicated corporate deals for travel agents and government departments, and members of the media were able to hear from Garth Simmons, Chief Executive Officer for Accor Southeast Asia, Japan & South Korea, who hosted a press conference on 15th February.
Joined by Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of Agriculture, and the East Java provincial government, this important media briefing revealed how Accor is playing a key role in driving the country’s tourism economy, including dedicated promotions for MSMEs and UMKM enterprises, while also providing insight on how local and national governments are working to support tourism.
“With a large population, rising affluence and strong economic growth, Indonesia is one of our most exciting markets – not only in Southeast Asia but globally. With rapid nationwide expansion, Accor has become the hotel group of choice for a rising number of Indonesians. As life and travel return to normal, this was the perfect time to stage our inaugural City of ALL event. We look forward to working with our partners to help create amazing guest experiences and to build a bright future for Indonesia’s tourism industry,” said Garth Simmons, CEO for Accor Southeast Asia, Japan & South Korea.
Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno, who was present virtually, appreciated the implementation of City of ALL and hoped that the collaboration with Accor would continue, in support of the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia (“Proudly Made in Indonesia”) and #BanggaBerwisataDiIndonesia (“Proudly Travelling in Indonesia”) movements, which are expected to spur economic growth and enhance Indonesia’s tourism potential.
Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Minister of Agriculture, who attended in-person, added: “What we are doing today is will help to bring agricultural MSMEs closer to the needs of the global market. Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country, with almost 280 million people and more than 17,000 islands. With this great potential, it is essential that Indonesian agriculture continues to grow and be strong with joint efforts between the central government, regional governments and the private sector.”
Meanwhile in the remarks of the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, who was represented by the Head of the East Java Economic Bureau, Budi Raharjo, said that the East Java Provincial Government appreciated Accor’s efforts to promote MSME products from East Java at this exhibition, including coffee products, chocolate, syrup and others, and the fact that these local products are also in use at Accor’s hotels.
